Y’all are in trouble now.
I am so glad Patti did that Oprah's Next Chapter special because everybody is talking about her again and all is right with the world. Y’all don’t even know. I feel like Patti was my fairy godmother growing up. I knew more Patti Labelle songs than nursery rhymes. Hell, my gay uncle basically thought he was Patti Labelle so Patricia and I definitely have a bond.
I just needed to take some time to put my favorite Patti singles out there into the universe so I can bookmark and refer to this post when I need to catch the Holy Spirit from a high note and some well-placed Aquanet.
I’m tellin’ you children, I’m looking too fierce. My hair’s nappy. My gown is drenched, honey. My pumps are broken. My lashes are falling off my face. My nails are cracking ‘cause I was frying some chicken and lost my nails in the chicken pot. My mascera is drippin’ all down my face. I’m tired, honey. But let me tell you somethin’: Ms. Thang will carry on ‘cause I’m a true diva. So don’t you even go there with me. Just stay where you are and TURN IT OUT!
Marie Laveau ain’t nuttin to fuck with.
I am not feelin Marie as the villian.
Yeah, I don’t know why Ryan Murphy made her seem like the villain (I lie, I do know why).
If anyone is a villain, it’s definitely Fiona.
Fiona is selfish and will do anything to get what she wants..That’s what makes a villian a villian. Not Marie..well not before this kill all of the Salem line BS. This shit is straight out of Charmed.
Marie is the only witch on the show who has only acted in defense and retalliation of her own.
She does not want to be visibly powerful to white people. She’s not here for them.
That’s why she stays in the 9th ward despite having been around longer than all of them.
They fucking betrayed her people after she gave them a gift, turned a blind eye to the enslavement of her people, and segregated themselves from her -didn’t do shit when a baby was lynched for going to a white school.
This storyline is the embodiment of solidarity being for white women.
She’s not a villian.
And if Ryan Murphy wasn’t writing this, Sweetie and Marie would burn all their shit down.
I’m not here for basic predictably bland white girl eventually becoming the “supreme”.
P.S. And fuck the “guilt” of Madame La Larie too. If it hadn’t been written by Ryan Murphy, Sweetie would have killed that bitch long ago.
I need to get on these people’s levels. The analysis is on point.
